Learning Outcomes

Astrophotography

Astrophotography can be some of the most complex and difficult areas of photography when getting into the advanced side of things. There are only certain times of the year where the Milky Way lines up with different foreground elements. This type of photography requires a lot of planning and research to capture successful images. Location, date, time, conditions, light pollution, direction, all these factors come into place when shooting astrophotography. I will be teaching my processes from start to finish of how I capture my astro photos to obtain the cleanest, noise-free images possible allowing you to bring out the most detail and be able to print your photos significantly larger than before.

In the astrophotography component of this workshop, the processes will include;

  • Planning

  • Researching

  • Star Tracking

Waterfalls

In this part of the workshop, we will delve into the lush local rainforests to find magical waterfalls. The focus on this part is to not only image beautiful scenes, but how and when to use different shutter speeds to change the dynamic of the photo. Lighting is extremely important when shooting waterfalls because harsh light can destroy the highlights of the image and a dark scene can take away the opportunity for a faster shutter speed capturing the action and raw emotion of the flowing water.
